SERBA DINAMIK IS COMMITTED TO WORK WITH KEY INDUSTRY PLAYERS TO LAUNCH THE FIRST ESPORTS CITY IN MALAYSIA
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony was held on Friday, 30th April 2021 to expand the efforts of recognising the Esports Industry as a national sport.
The ceremony saw Serba DInamik, the company which founded the first virtual reality centre and the largest digital hub in Borneo – otherwise known as D-Virtual Park, Kota Samarahan – acknowledging their interest to collaborate with key industry players in the Malaysian Esports Industry - namely the Malaysian Esports Federation (MESF), Esports Selangor Association (ESS) and University Malaysia of Computer Science and Engineering (UNIMY).
In attendance that day was the honorable chief guest, YB Tuan Mohd. Khairuddin Bin Othman, EXCO Kerajaan Negeri, Pembangunan Model Insan dan Negeri. Also in attendance was Dato’ Dr. Ir. Ts. Mohd. Karim Abdullah, CEO of Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad, Encik Abdul Razak Bin Dato’ Dr. Haji Mohd. Yusof, President of the Malaysians Esports Federation (MESF), as well as Prof. Datuk Ts. Mohd Razali Muhamad, acting as the Vice Chancellor of University Malaysia’s Computer Science and Engineering Department.
The MoU Signing was a breakthrough event which saw Serba Dinamik partaking in a breakthrough collaboration with key national Esports stakeholders and industry players to establish an Esports Development Centre, known as the Selangor Esports City – which is expected to be launched and will be operational sometime in 2022.
This is a concerted effort to recognise Esports as a national sport – in which training facilities, infrastructure and a talent development programme will be leveraged and invested to produce a world-class Esports scene in our country. This industry could have a lucrative potential within our country, hence contributing to our economy from a financial and talent perspective – especially as rebound from the hardships caused by the recent COVID-19 pandemic.
During the ceremony, CEO of Serba Dinamik Dato’ Dr. Ir. Ts. Mohd. Karim Abdullah, stated that the Selangor Esports City will provide useful amenities conducive for learning and training, which includes world-class Esports facilities, a training academy, game incubator as well as an Esports-themed hotel.
“Through this collaboration and with the support of these key stakeholders, Serba Dinamik aims to bring homegrown Esports talent to the international stage by leveraging on world-class infrastructure, talent development programme and talent profiling system,” he said during the MoU Signing Ceremony.
Selangor Esports City will replace the formerly closed down Carlton Hotel based in Section 13, Shah Alam. Renovations and redevelopment of the hotel has taken place and is expected to be completed and operational sometime next year.
